hike & fly race statistics

Where the time goes in a hike & fly race

hikeflystats reads the GPS tracks of hike & fly races and works out, minute by minute, when every athlete was on foot and when in the air.

Aaron Durogati's Red Bull X-Alps 2025, in goal after 7d 08h 31m: 1,275 km of route, between 211 m and 4,310 m. Green on foot, blue in the air; each gap is a night.

It started with one race

I raced Trail & Fly 2026 and wanted to know where the time went: how long I hiked, how long I flew, and where the others gained on me. The tracks hold the answer. This is how the site reads every one, here the winner of Day 1:

  1. 1 The fixes

A position and an altitude every few seconds, nothing more.

  2. 2 Read

Every stretch read as hiking, flying or a stop, from the speed, the climb and the height above the ground.

  3. 3 The numbers

    On foot
    1 h 57, 11.2 km
    In the air
    1 h 32, 31.8 km
    Climbed on foot
    1,292 m
    In goal
    13:02:06

Ch Ma's day, minute by minute, and every athlete's beside it.
